Explore Montmartre starting from the hotel, a lovely walk

Return to "Walks in Paris near the hotel"
Montmartre, a bastion safeguarded for centuries
Once the street starts to go uphill, you are in Montmartre, and it will take you uphill all the way to Place du Tertre, with its painters and cartoonists, standing there with their racks, in the shade of the Sacré Coeur. In Montmartre, the fancy streets and their upscale houses get mixed up with more banal housing that are meant to do nothing more but provide a roof to the everyday Parisian (picture : avenue Junon or place du tertre).
A discovery walk of the Parisian celebrities
Besides those classics, each street of Montmartre conceals small treasures and uncommon stories: Go find Dalida’s house, the statute made by Jean Marais as a dedication to a short story written by Marcel Aymé, the “Passe-murail”, the “cinéma 13”, or Claude’s Lelouch private screening room... (picture : the “passe-muraille”, or another one of them)
Trendy neighborhood that leads all the way to the kinkier areas of Paris.
To go back down, use the funicular or the stairs, and further down the hill, you will find funny-looking crooked and narrow streets, entertaining shops, including a small shop where you could design the wedding dress of your dream, unique... You are in fact in the “bobo” area of Paris (yuppie), all around the Place des Abesses and bordering the Pigalle district, with “Chez Michou”, a cabaret with friendly transvestites, and the Moulin Rouge as a finale.
